Ladies’ 3s beat Oxford 2s in friendly

Published on 19th Sep, 2022

Hawks Ladies 3s were really excited to play in a local derby against Oxford 2s, the weekend before the league starts.

Hawks didn't have a big squad but it was full of quality players who were absolutely raring to go even though a number of people had already played a game of hockey or football previously.

Oxford lined up with 11 outfield players and no Goalkeeper which took quite a lot of getting used to and we were immediately under pressure as a result. However Trin the GK and the Hawks defence were up to the challenge.

At half time the score was 1-1 with Katie Lowe scoring for Hawks during open play.

Hawks started the 2nd half well and immediately were in the final third but Oxford prevented us from going 2-1 up and immediately had a fast break opportunity but as normal Trin was on great form and the score stayed at 1-1.

Player of the match, Flick Fitzpatrick who had already played before our game worked tirelessly in midfield and created so much going forward with her lovely skills. While defending brilliantly as well.

Katie Lowe, Meg Minton and Molly Grinham on her 3s debut scored another goal each and the final score was 4-3 to Hawks.

The Ladies' 3s look forward to their first league game against Marlow on the 24th September.
