Season 2022-2023
Ladies’ 7s lose in first friendly
Published on 17th Sep, 2022
Ladies’ 7s played their first friendly against Oxford in the sun. We began with a minute’s silence for HM Queen Elizabeth II.
The game began with both sides fairly evenly matched. However, Oxford managed to get two goals in the first half.
We had a good discussion at half time about what we should be doing. As usual, at this stage of the season we were playing with people we had not played with before.
The second half went better but the team were tiring. Oxford got two more goals but 10 minutes before the end of the game we won a short corner which Calla converted into a goal with a great strike.
The final score was 4 – 1 to Oxford. Player of the match went to Calla Whitby who had a terrific game.
Many thanks to Hugh Bentley and Charlie Baggs for umpiring.
