Season 2022-2023
Ladies’ 4s concede win to Witney
Published on 23rd Nov, 2022
On Saturday Oxford Hawks Ladies 4’s travelled down the road to Witney to play their Ladies 2’s team. Hawks started strongly keeping possession and passing the ball well, creating some great D entries. These started from superb passing at the back, with Evie Fogden staying strong and making some lovely runs down the sideline. Although Hawks maintained strength, Witney scored 3 in quick succession from small yet costly mistakes from Hawks.
At half time Witney were winning 3-0 however, Hawks were not defeated and came out after half time with strength and determination. They were creating great chances upfront from some great link up play through the team. Hawks pounced on an opportunity from a slip-up from Witney during a Witney free pass and Nele intercepted the ball around the half-way line, made it round the final defender and then had the goalkeeper to beat. She superbly took it round the keeper, kept her cool and slotted in the back of goal to make it 3-1. Hawks remained strong and put in a great performance, but Witney caught Hawks on the break and won a penalty flick as Tehya did what she could in goal 1-on-1 with their player. Witney slotted that away to left corner. Hawks attitude and strength never wavered and won their final of many short corners on the final whistle but unfortunately, they could not add to their score.
We go again next week.
