Ladies’ 1s put Fareham to flight
Published on 16th Oct, 2023
On Saturday, Hawks Ladies 1s welcomed the newly promoted Fareham to Banbury Road. After last week's disappointing result, the girls wanted to put it behind them and give the home crowd a strong performance.
Much of the first quarter was end-to-end play, with both teams failing to capitalize on their opportunities. Tiny opened the scoring in quarter 2 with a first-time shot from Lucy, hit across the circle. The next goal came in quarter 3 from a very well-worked corner by Megan Taylor. After the second goal, Fareham came back out fighting, but with some strong defensive play, we managed to keep it 2-0 leading into the final quarter. In quarter 4, we won another short corner after some strong attacking movements. The third goal came from Reaney with an utterly fantastic deflection from Claire Caruth’s shot.
The final whistle blew, and it finished 3-0. Thank you so much to the ball patrol, which was made up of juniors and Ladies 2s. To everyone who came to support us, it was much appreciated.
We can't wait to play Reading next weekend.
