Hawks Ladies 2s seal victory as League Champions!

Hawks Ladies 2s travelled to Amersham and Chalfont knowing we had a job to do. With 1 point in it at the start of the day, the bid for top spot was on!

We started well, immediately pushing Amersham to defend their goal. Joint player of the match Helen Nicholson popped up in front of goal once again to convert the rebound from Lili's drag flick short corner attempt. We continued to play well, enjoying lots of possession and troubling Amersham's defence. Unfortunately for us, Amersham managed to get a goal back and the score was set at 1-1 for around a 10 minute period. Hawks managed to gather their composure again though, with Lili converting from a cross in front of the keeper. Shortly before half-time, Lucy also grabbed her second goal of the season and we went into half time at 3-1 up.

Some half time words of wisdom from coach Wilko and renewed belief that victory was in our sights, we stepped out for the final 35 minutes of the season. We were really enjoying our hockey, stringing together a number of well worked passing moves and working hard on our defensive jump back as a team. The togetherness we showed through periods of the second half were really important as Pagey was forced into a couple of her trademark saves. As the half wore on, Hawks continued to pile on the pressure and also joint player of the match Kathryn was able to convert Alice's short corner cross. Running at 4-1 and not yet content, we created lots of great chances and again Kathryn was able to get on the end of Connie's reverse stick cross, meaning we ran out 5-1 winners. A fitting victory to sign off a season which has been so enjoyable for all.

We celebrated our victory with a few pictures and Wilko was able to utter the words we'd worked all season for - the job is done.

A huge well done to all the Ladies 2s players on becoming South Central Prem Winners for the 2021/22 season.
