Season 2025-2026
W7s in good game with W6s
Published on 16th Nov, 2025
Women’s 7s knew they had a tough game against the top-of-the-table Women’s 6s. However, the first goal of the game was down to Iris Goffe who scored in the first two minutes for the 7s! After this rude awakening, Women’s 6s then got their act together. There were goals from Lucy Wimhurst, Bethan Cark, Jess Anstice and Cecily Smith. So, the 6s finished the first half with a 4 – 1 lead.
After some encouraging and useful words from Kim Williams, we started again. 6s kept up their scoring rate with goals from Yasmin Biggs, Caitlin Hinson (who got 2) and Lucy Wimhurst (scoring again). Then in the final few minutes of the match, Linda Phillips got the ball in the circle. She did a great strike and the rebound off the keeper came back to her. She had the presence of mind to flick the ball over the keeper who was down. So 7s scored the last goal of the game!
The final score was 8 -2 to the 6s. This was a fair result, and it was a good game with lots of positive comments within the 7s.
The 6s voted Isla Gage as their Player of the Match. For the 7s, there were nominations for Rachel Ellingham, Hannah Jones, and Rosie Pickering but the winner easily was Iris Goffe.
Thank you to Muriel and Hugh for umpiring our game.
