W1s in goalfest versus Harleston Magpies

Published on 22nd Nov, 2025

It would have been easy to let the dreary wet weather dampen the teams spirits, and it would have been easy to ‘take our foot off the gas’ playing the team at the bottom of the League; we didn’t take the ‘easy option’. This match against
Harleston Magpies marks the halfway point in the EHL season. With back to back wins fresh in our memories, this match was not taken likely. We were hungry for our third sequential win. Wilko set the meet time earlier than normal to ensure were focused with a strong mentality and to enable more ball time before the PB.

The game was off to a swift start with Harleston Magpies making Ruby do some work in the first five minutes from some aerial action, little did she know that was last time in the game she would touch the ball.

Teamwork made the dream work today with Sandra setting the tempo of the game by scoring our first goal after 5 minutes of play. the. Georgie got in on the goal scoring action 10 minutes later. Nearing the end of the second quarter Eloise stepped up and scored the first of an impressive six goals from a penalty corner, this was then rapidly followed by a further two other goals ( 🔥 within the next 10 minutes…). The Magpies half time talk clearly worked as they came out hungrier, pushing us more than they had in the first half of the match; we responded well to this test, with Sophie getting involved in the goal scoring action the from penalty corner. This took the score up to 7 nil. The girls were clearly riding on the crest of a wave, but they weren’t content with that, they were ruthless in their appetite for goals, knowing they needed a high school to increase their goal difference. Eloise rounded off the goal scoring opportunities with two goals from free-play, within one minute of each other, taking the team to a 9 nil win.

All in all, despite the miserable weather the team played exceptionally well, they showed unwavering determination and displayed how much they have bonded/developed since the start of the season. Everyone played their part in this big win, but man of the match understandably went to Eloise.
