Oxford Hawks Boys U14 Vs Sutton & Coldfield – 20.10.24

Well deserved teas for the u12s and u13s who played an exceptionally strong u14 Sutton Coldfield team (their coach shared they have 3 u14 boys teams!). It will officially be recorded as an 8-0 loss though in reality it was 15-2. At half time and 10-0 down GK Ahmed decided to stop playing after taking a hard ball to the knee early in the half. SC offered us extra players but the boys were determined they just wanted to play as a team, though we gratefully accepted their GK. I was so proud of their determination and they actually played some lovely hockey, holding their shape well. I reckon if we’d had Ahmed he would have saved at least 3 of the second half goals, but 5-2 was a much more respectable second half result. Goals for Harry Taylor (beautifully worked ping pong short corner) and James Wakefield (open play)

Despite the score line and torrential rain the boys were pretty chipper and congratulated themselves on winning their spot in the plate competition!
