Oxford Hawks Mens 7’s vs Berko & Hemel 4’s – 12.10.24

We always knew this would be a tough game, 2 places below us but with a few recent good matches B@HH were definitely up for it. Like us they turned up with plentiful players eager to take victory. First 5 mins B&HH pressed hard but well defended by Blommers, Geof and Hack and some great saves by Damon. B@HH then attacking from the left lifted a ball thigh height into the D , missing Stoker and Orme by mm. umpire, umpire, umpire- too late they scored. We were asked at the start of the match not to use bad language, it was hard not to. Back to it, Ash, Josh and Ed in mid field pushing forward creating a few opportunities and several shots on goal, several short corners but just couldn’t get that equaliser. B&HH took advantage on a break and made it 0-2 at half time. 2nd half was ours to take, we started strong, pushing B&HH back into their half time and time again Mike, Ed, Josh and James driving the ball forward into the 23, finally a great injection by Andy to Ed, deflect of the keeper picked up by Tim and 1-2. Spurred on we pushed right up into their half with Billers and Stoker supporting mid field who continued their attack with numerous attempts by the Sutcliffe boys to get a shot on goal however they could not breakthrough the B@HH defence. With 3 mins to go B&HH made a break into the D resulting in a short corner, 3-1 final score.

Disappointing final score, but the pizza 🍕 was great.
