Season 2022-2023
Ladies’ 4s lose to Reading
Published on 06th Nov, 2022
Hawks L4s took on Reading 4s on a very wet morning. We started with the ball, but Reading came out ferociously to gain possession. They scored their first goal from a straight strike in a short which unfortunately came off a defenders stick into the goal. Keeping our heads up we continued to battle against their strong tackling and skillful stick skills. We fought hard to get 2 D penetrations that came from quick through balls that went to our high forwards. Unfortunately, they lacked support to get a goal. Reading's second and third goals both came from deflections of strikes from the top of the D despite our consistent marking. After the end of the first half reading were 3-0 up.
After an encouraging talk we went onto the second half with determination to score a goal. Hawks started off strongly playing around the Reading players and we had the ball more in their defensive half. Despite this, they did manage to score another goal. But Hawks had a quick comeback with Kelly scoring a goal after some chaos in the D. Despite some injuries resulting in quick substitutions Hawks were resilient and fought off Reading for the rest of the second half with Tehya making an amazing stick save on a dive. The final score was 4-1 and the player of the match went to Tehya for her excellent and consistent saves.
