Season 2022-2023
Ladies’ 4s lose out to Maidenhead
Published on 04th Oct, 2022
The Ladies 4s played host to Maidenhead 2s on a sunny October morning. The rain from the day before had created perfect conditions for the pitch and the team were raring to get out there.
The match started very evenly, with both teams testing each other out in the midfield. Maidenhead had some early forays into the Hawks D but were swiftly dealt with by the Hawks defence. Hawks worked hard to move the ball around and started to open up some gaps through the Maidenhead players. Unfortunately, Maidenhead capitalised on a couple of overloads at the turnover and managed to end the first half 2-0 up.
The second half started well for Hawks as they piled the pressure on Maidenhead. The pitch opened up and there were some lovely passages of play through the midfield into the Maidenhead D but the goal proved elusive. A well executed penalty corner by Maidenhead put them 3-0 up and the Hawks heads dipped for the final 15mins. Maidenhead kept the pressure on to score their 4th and final goal of the match.
Player of the match went to Fran for her calm and composed decision making.
