Ladies’ 2s success at Henley

Hawks 2s made their way to Henley, hoping Storm Ciaran would hold off, especially after our pre-season game against Henley was cancelled due to waterlogged pitch. We arrived ready and raring to go (even with the rain), wanting to keep our winning streak going.

The 2s started well putting pressure on Henley, forcing the ball up their end, with some great leads from Kathryn and Odders. After a good build up Helen scored our first goal with an assist from Kathryn. Henley came back strong, scoring immediately after from a short corner, 1-1. Focused on getting three points the 2s continued to build up their play with some brilliant distribution from Bex, Niamh and Jemima and some great movement up the pitch from Sandra. This great play led to a fantastic goal from Abbie - 2-1 up!

Coming in at half time for some wise words from Wilko the 2s got back on the pitch ready to further their lead. The 2s came on strong with great leads from Caro in the D (nearly scoring) and a couple of shots hitting the post (so close!). In the last 10 minutes still 2-1 the 2s secured their lead with a goal from Kathryn slotting the ball between the post and goalkeeper and a fourth goal from Wato who drove the baseline, passed to Kathryn, back to Wato to finish the game with an amazing goal! Wato also received MOM not just because of her incredible goal but for being solid throughout the whole game, with great leads up the line and creating chances in the D. DOD went to Niamh (thanks for saving me [Danielle!] from DOD) for her comments on the Autumnal trees before the game???
