Oxford Hawks Women’s 4’s vs Wooten Wanderers – 23.11.24
Published on 27th Nov, 2024
On Saturday, we played against the Wooten Wanderers in a match that felt like it was being sabotaged by Mother Nature herself. The conditions were as miserable as some of the referee’s decisions.
Despite the terrible weather, our team showcased excellent hockey skills and played with class. We dominated possession, created numerous scoring opportunities, and executed some truly impressive hockey.
However, a combination of decisions not going our way, a spectacular own goal, a green card, and a dash of misfortune worked against us.
Some highlights of the match included the impressive goals from Emily (who did in fact score a very good goal for the correct team) and Bea. There was also some very remarkable saves from Mia.
The Wooten Wanderers, with a bit of luck, managed to snatch a late victory from a short corner, resulting in our disappointing loss when we could have secured a great win.
In the end, the match was a wet and windy affair, characterised by a mixture of skill, teamwork, and frustration. While the result was disappointing, we can take pride in the fact that we played our best and faced the elements courageously.
