Oxford Hawks Women’s 3’s vs South Berkshire 2’s – 05.10.24

An early morning in South Berkshire and another sunny Saturday and the mighty threes were back. Despite being a coach down, we had an inspirational team talk from our mighty captain Ebony and headed to the pitch for a solid warm up before the game. Half an hour later and the starting whistle blew. The mighty threes took the first push back, immediately showing our incredible teamwork and pushing our way up the pitch. Keeping a strong press, we kept it in our attacking half, giving South Berks a hard time defending. Twenty minutes went by and we were still tied at 0-0, after some fabulous attempts against oppositions’ goalie. Then, we saw our chance… we had won another short corner. A beautiful injection from Emma, a cracking drag flick from Suzy… but it was saved! The powerful kick sent the ball flying towards Alice, who pinged the ball straight back past the goalie and into the goal. How cool, calm and collected! One nil down going into the second half and South Berks came back strongly, attacking hard and earning themselves a short corner. The real question was, would they score against the almighty Charlie Bransby? You needn’t even ask! Our mighty goalkeeper cleared the ball and Hawks were back in possession. The mighty threes worked together, creating several opportunities but unfortunately no goal was scored in the second half. This didn’t matter though because the mighty threes still won the game 1-0! Three marvellous matches, three wonderful wins and three celebratory clean sheets - go the mighty’ threes!
