Season 2022-2023
Men’s O50s in goalfest at Leighton Buzzard
Published on 09th Jan, 2023
Men’s O50s entered Round 3 of the Master’s HA Cup in confident mood and refreshed if not a little overweight following the Christmas break. Leighton Buzzard who had moved their vets team up from O40's to the O50's age group fought valiantly but a rampant attack led by England O50 striker Adam Laird had too much in the tank for the home side. A first half hat-trick for Laird and a goal a-piece for Easterbrook and Finlayson saw the visitors take a 5-0 lead into the half-time break.
With the skipper telling them not to change the game plan a second hat-trick from Laird with second goals for Easterbrook and Finlayson certainly showed the message had been received and with further goals from Hutton, Poulter and Pratt the tie ended in a 13-0 win for Hawks. They now look forward to a fourth-round tie away to Indian Gymkhana or Amersham & Chalfont.
