Season 2022-2023
Ladies’ 8s in close match with Aylesbury
Published on 16th Oct, 2022
The teams were greeted with a sunny and breezy Saturday noon push back.
Hawks got off to a high tempo start exerting much pressure to the opponent’s goal from all directions.
Aylesbury soon got back their shape and were able to find spaces to break through.
Pressure then reverted to the Hawks’ end. Fortunately for Aylesbury a scrumming in Hawks’ D resulted to a goal for Aylesbury.
During half time positive encouragement from Laura and Deborah boosted the team’s spirit.
Ball possessions were about evenly played out for the second half of the match.
Although Hawks gained much more short corners and had good attempts at Aylesbury’s goal, the final score was 0 - 1 to Aylesbury.
It was an enjoyable, exciting and lady-like match.
Lucky for Aylesbury this time round 😊
Nominations for player of the match included Jill, Charlotte and Katie but the winner was Huei who had a superb game running tirelessly up and back again as right wing.
Thanks must go to Tomm Murray and Kara Kerr for umpiring, to Simon Aumonier for the excellent photos and to Huei for writing the match report.
There is now a two-week break from league games, but we have a friendly on Saturday 22nd.
