Ladies’ 6s beat Banbury

Published on 15th Oct, 2022

The L6s started the game with a clear advantage, Banbury only managed to travel to us with just 10 players. The first half was very much dominated by the girls in maroon, with some lovely linking play between the backs, and Nynke controlling the centre of the pitch. The forward line had some great opportunities, and Wumni had 2 great shots, converted 2. Linda made some great saves under pressure.

Minute 13, some would say unlucky number for some. But not for Wumni, hat-trick? Done. 3-0 up and Hawks were comfortably ahead. A resolute Banbury sat behind the ball and defended well. Although they were well matched by our stoic defence, with Jan making some great interceptions and block tackles. We continued to pepper the D with runs in by Kate and Yas, but couldn’t convert any more chances. 3-0, 3 points, a good Saturday morning up at BRN!

It was no surprise when Wumni was voted player of the match.

Thanks to Caitlin for managing our single sub and to Adrian and Buzz for keeping us all in order with their whistles.
