Ladies’ 8s beat Thame at home

Season 2022-2023

Ladies’ 8s beat Thame at home

Published on 26th Nov, 2022

It was a cloudy start to the game but luckily the rain held off. First quarter they scored 1 but we quickly retaliated with one from Helen Wright.

As it was a friendly, we were playing quarters. This allowed us to regroup after 15 minutes and agreed to focus on talking more on the pitch. After this we started passing much better and added two goals in each of the next quarters with one more from Helen, 2 from Hannah Jones and one which managed to hit about 3 Hawk’s sticks before going in. (Laura decided it was great teamwork and credited it to Charlotte.)  Thame had a few shots on goal but with some great defending, and several saves from our goalie Niv meant we went into the final quarter 5-1 up.

There Thame managed to get a second goal. We retaliated quickly with another goal from Charlotte to end the game 6-2!

Everyone played well and so there were a number of nominations for player of the match: Emily, Kim, Helen, Charlotte and Hannah Jones. However, Hannah Peel won after a high-effort game dribbling round a number of opposition players.

Thanks to Tim Dabbs for taking the photos in failing light and to the umpires: Laura Burrowes and Hugh Bentley.
