Ladies’ 5s in draw away at Leighton Buzzard

Hawks L5s made the long journey to play Leighton Buzzard away on 18th Feb. L5s turned up wanting to win and started strong. Leighton Buzzard scored an early goal from some scrambling by Hawks in the D - not successfully clearing. Leighton Buzzard put on lots of pressure in the 1H and won multiple short corners- but Hawks defended well and no further goals were conceded. Hawks moved the ball well and looked dangerous attacking.

After a focussed half time talk, Hawks attacked well as a unit and had plenty of attacks to goal. After a foul during a shot on goal, Rebecca Black took a penalty flick for Hawks. What an amazing flick! Rebecca buried the ball in the bottom left-hand corner to much celebration from Hawk's 5. A further Hawks goal was disallowed - Karen ran the ball to the baseline and slapped back to Sherene who hit a fantastic strike - but alas! - the umpire confirmed that the ball had been played off the backline before the goal. LB also had a goal disallowed which pinged into the goal off an LB foot!

Man of the match was a draw between Libby and Rebecca Black. Rebecca was awarded MOM thanks to the flick and many other fantastic strikes in the D. A tough, well battled 1-1 game.
