Season 2022-2023
Ladies’ 4s in strong performance against Maidenhead
Published on 18th Jan, 2023
On Saturday Oxford Hawks Ladies' 4s travelled to Maidenhead to play their Ladies' 2s. Despite a very wet warm up the team were in good spirits. Maidenhead started strongly and scored early. Despite this, Hawks remained positive and there were some good passages of play. The accurate passing, pressure and pace from Maidenhead continued and proved too strong, scoring a second and third goal.
The match then settled, and Hawks possession increased with more balance between the two sides. There were some excellent runs on the wing from the half backs and inners creating opportunities in the D which unfortunately didn’t find the goal. The score at half time remained 3-0 to Maidenhead.
Hawks started positively in the second half and some great speed from Adewunmi beat the Maidenhead defence several times. Her high-quality crosses across the goal created further scoring opportunities. Good pressure in midfield stopped Maidenhead breaking through the press. The fourth Hawks' short corner resulted in a well-deserved goal. Evie injected strongly to Catherine who took a shot at goal and Evie made a great deflection which slotted into the goal. Maidenhead managed to get one more past the defence with a final score of 1-4. Hawks attitude and strength did not waver and overall, this was a positive performance against a strong side.
