Season 2023-2024
Ladies’ 2s in first loss of the season
Published on 18th Nov, 2023
The Ladies’ 2s were up early, ready to take on the long-awaited top-of-the-table clash. The match started well with the likes of Caro, Danielle and Mima passing the ball neatly around the back. The 2s were starting to settle well with many circle entries and shots at goal. However, as the game was in full flow, Marlow managed to gain a goal by a strong slap to the bottom right corner. Despite having conceded, the 2s came back with lots of energy. Their overall a great reaction to having gone behind was making strong connections throughout the pitch.
After a motivational halftime chat from Wilko. The 2s continued playing cool, calm and collected hockey with a strong will to gain a goal back. Great runs were made by Lucille and Odders, who got Player of the Match for her ferocious tenacity displayed on the pitch, opening more opportunities and lots of short corners. After some attacking play by Marlow, they won a short corner in which they scored off a deflection. The 2s maintained composure however. They kept giving a good fight and winning many more short corners (of which unfortunately none resulted in a goal including one on the final whistle).
DOD went to Niamh for telling Wilko how long was left despite Wilko trying to get Marlow to stop wasting time and, in her words, will keep her mouth shut next time! Despite the disappointing result the 2s will go again next week trekking down to Bournemouth hoping to regain their winning streak and continue battling for top of the table.
