Ladies’ 1s beat Bristol Firebrands at BRN

On Saturday the ladies 1s played Bristol Firebrands in our second game of the season! The day began with all of us coming early to support the ladies 2s before heading onto the pitch to warm up.

The game began and Bristol firebrands were immediately putting pressure on us, luckily, we matched their tempo keeping the first quarter to a 0-0 start. As the second quarter began Bristol had a lucky corner which went in on the follow up play meaning it was 0-1 to the opposition. Hawks being hawks immediately stepped up and upped their game with Megan making an incredible cross into the D which was deflected by Tiny making it 1-1 in the following few minutes.

Heading into the second half with the score being 1-1 we knew we had work to do. In the 51st minute of the game, we won a short corner with Emma O smashing it from the top to be deflected by Claire over the keeper and into the goal! 2–1 to us!!  Keeping up the hard work and excellent passing, we got the opportunity to attack again, this time with Reaney scoring a wonder goal!

Bristol firebrands weren’t giving up as easily as we hoped with them scoring a short corner goal in the final quarter of the game and Hawks, despite dominating the fourth quarter overall, faced a nervous last minute, needing to defend another corner right near the end. They did so successfully, and the game ended 3-2 to Hawks! A good day all in all!
