Marley's legacy
Come down and join us to mark Marley’s 5th Anniversary. It is hard to believe it’s been 5 years since he died. How have we managed to live 5 years without him? Let’s make this year even more special. Since the first #BeMoreMarley in 2020 the money raised has made a big impact. We have funded paediatric first aid to enable families to attend this for free hosted by the Maple Tree Children’s centre in Wheatley. We have funded a bereavement retreat for Teddy’s wish where parents can get much needed support and meet other families in the same situation. A cuddle cot cooling mat was funded and donated to the John Radcliffe Hospital (JR). A larger cooling mat for older children was also part funded by generous donation from Radnage progressive supper. As a result families have been given the opportunity to spend more time with their child following their death, not available at the hospital when Marley died. The money has also funded a number of bereavement training days to NHS trusts around the country, including the JR. These are essential training days not offered by NHS trusts, to educate staff about how to work with families following baby/child loss. Bex has shared Marley’s story at 3 of these. As a direct result services at the JR have made and continue to make positive changes for the benefit of families in their care. We hope to make the bereavement training at the JR an annual event and continue to support other NHS trusts.
We are so proud of the impact the money has had and hope this continues. It is a privilege to have such an amazing #BeMoreMarley community who support us to support others and help us keep our boy’s name and memory alive. #BeMoreMarley 2024 proceeds will go to Teddy’s wish to continue to support their amazing work with families who have suffered baby loss.
