Ladies’ 2s ascendancy at Amersham

After the Christmas break, Hawks Ladies’ 2s made the short journey to Amersham & Chalfont, keen to get back to winning ways. We welcomed back two familiar faces, with Vics joining the squad and Scraggle coaching. Martha was running late, needing to “fix” her car enroute. However, fortunately everyone was ready in time for push back.

Hawks started strongly, moving the ball around at pace. An early attack, featuring some silky skills from Henri, and a strong driving run from Lucille resulted in player of the match Odders, dispatching her shot into the corner. 1-0 Hawks after 90 seconds. Hawks continued in a similar vein for the first half, moving the ball well with some excellent passages of play, but unable to make the final pass to finish these off.

At half time, the Percy pigs and some Wilko wisdom were welcome, however it was Amersham who came out strongly in the second half. Pressing higher, they put Hawks under more pressure and created chances. However, the Hawks defence stood firm and the team continued to carve out good opportunities. Note to Niamh, when you get near the “D” – Shoot! As the clock ticked down, it was left to Henri to hold possession in the far corner. 1-0 Hawks, 3 points on the road and another clean sheet for Charlie (aka Trin)! MOM deservedly went to Odders for some awesome play and relentless tackling, and DOD to Martha for her lateness as well as her graceful entrance to the post match debrief!
