FAQ

How do I know when training will be?

Your Teamo app will be updated with all your age group’s training sessions. We ask you to give your availability in advance, which helps us plan the right number of coaches.

How do I sign up for fixtures?

Teamo will display the fixture date, time, and location. You can then update your availability for the fixture directly in the app.

If I say I’m available for fixtures, does that mean I will be playing?

Not necessarily. The coach will select players from those who have indicated their availability. The final team selection will be shown in the app ahead of the match day, so please check it regularly.

Will I be selected for all fixtures?

Selection depends on several factors, including:

  • The number of teams in your age group.
  • The number of players available.
  • Your attendance at training sessions (commitment).
  • The number of fixtures you have played.
  • The competitiveness of the fixture and your playing ability.

How many players are there in a team on match day?

  • U8s: 5 players
  • U10s: 10 players (7 on the pitch at all times)
  • U12s: 10 players (7 on the pitch at all times)
  • U14s - U18s: 16 players (11 on the pitch at all times, including a goalie)

Where are the fixtures played

Fixtures are either at Oxford Hawks (home) or at the opposition’s location (away).

What do I do if my child is available for a fixture but I’m unable to take them?

Speak to the manager, who can put a message out to parents and help put you in touch with someone who may be able to assist.

Can I leave my child at training and come back at the end of the session to collect them?

Yes, absolutely, except for U6 parents, who need to stay.

Can my child leave on their own at the end of the training session?

For U6, U8, and U10, we require an adult to collect the child. Older children can leave by themselves.

If I’ve paid for a Sunday-only package, but my child now wants to train midweek, what do I do?

Please contact us at juniors@oxfordhawks.co.uk to update your package.

What is the bare minimum equipment needed?

Gum shield and shin pads. Please also bring a water bottle to every training session and fixture.

How do I get a gum shield?

We recommend Titan Mouthguards, or you can get boil-and-bite ones from Decathlon, Sports Direct, etc. These cheaper ones are ideal for younger children whose teeth are constantly changing.

What can my child wear to training?

We ask children not to wear any school-branded hockey tops to training. We provide training tops, which your child can wear if they choose.

What do I need to wear for a fixture?

Black Hawks skort/shorts and maroon or white hockey socks. Find out more via our new kit shop

Can I volunteer to help?

Yes, we are always looking for parents to help out. Please contact juniors@oxfordhawks.co.uk.
