Women’s 7s draw with Enigma

The forecast was for showers and sunny intervals for our first league game of the season.  There was heavy traffic in North Oxford and some players warned they would be late.  However, the Enigma were even later!

We began well and Jess got the first goal just six minutes in and then another at 10 minutes.  Then they had a shot at goal which hit Rachel on the thigh (and she has an enormous bruise to prove it!)  This led to a penalty flick which they won.  So, the score going into halftime was 2 – 1 to us.

Hannah and Huei had to leave at half time so, we were down to 12 for the second half.  Jess completed her hat-trick with another goal 15 minutes into the second half.  Unfortunately, they got two more so that we finished with a 3 – 3 draw.

Everyone played very well but we also have some things we will do differently next time.  So, this great start to the season augurs well for the rest of the season.

There were nominations for Player of the Match for: Rachel, Rosie, Jess, Anna, and Bella.  However, the winner was Heather who had an excellent game in midfield and distributed beautifully.

And it didn’t rain!
