Season 2025-2026
Women’s 1s in draw with St Albans
Published on 22nd Sep, 2025
Today, we faced off against St Albans in what turned out to be an exciting and hard-fought match. We started the game with strong momentum, showcasing some excellent team play and individual efforts.
Right from the first whistle, we were on the front foot, with Claire creating a fantastic shot inside the D. Her effort was a real statement of intent, setting the tone for the game. We continued to build from there, with some solid passing and intelligent movement off the ball.
Our second goal came from the impressive speed of Sandra. Using her pace to perfection, she managed to break through the St Albans defence, slotting the ball home to give us a 2-0 lead.
Throughout the game, Sophie was instrumental in creating space for the team, making intelligent runs off the ball that opened up passing lanes and stretched the opposition. Her off-the-ball movement was a key factor in our attacking play.
At the other end, Ruby was in fine form, making some crucial saves to keep us in the game. Her reflexes and composure under pressure were critical in ensuring we stayed level.
Despite our strong performance, St Albans responded well, managing to pull two goals back and level the score at 2-2 by the final whistle. It was a fair result given the ebb and flow of the game, but we can be proud of our performance overall.
Everyone played their part in what was a solid team effort, and while we’re disappointed not to come away with the win, there were plenty of positives to take into our next match.
