Oxford Hawks Women’s 6’s vs Thame’s 2’s – 21.09.24

It was the first match of the season and W6 started off a little bit jittery, but so did Thame. Frustratingly Thame scored in the 4th minute.

Hawks continued to dominate the start of the second half and eventually Natalie calmly scored a wonderful equaliser from a short corner rebound. Thame desperately pushed as we went into the last 10minutes. Hawks could not have defended more perfectly and with such determination. Phil was an invincible shield on the goal line preventing defeat. It became overwhelmingly tense when Thame were given a penalty flick, however Helena was impassible and blocked the shot with the side of her stick, deservedly getting all 15 votes for player of the match.

The final minutes were tense but Hawks managed to hold the draw with a final score of 1-1 away at Thame. A point well earned and a promising start to the season. Well done ladies!!!!
