Oxford Hawks Women’s 6’s vs Oxford Uni 3s – 30.11.24

The Ladies 6s faced off against Oxford University 3s today, starting the day with a pre-match classroom session to reinforce tactics, including the press, 3-4-3 setup, and attacking structures.

Oxford University brought a strong squad with 4-5 substitutes, while we had one sub, plus Cat stepping in for emergency air. From the outset, Oxford demonstrated quick and assertive play, managing to penetrate our D several times.

Despite relentless pressure and numerous short corners, our defensive unit—Margaret, Jan, Phil, Becky, Flora and Cheuk-Ling—rose to the challenge, perfectly defending the majority of these set pieces. By the end of the first half, however, Oxford had managed to net three goals.

In the second half, our resilience paid off. A brilliant assist from Monica off a long corner set up Caitlin, who skillfully sent the ball straight through the goalie’s legs to score.
