Season 2023-2024
Ladies’ 7s nearly drew with Banbury
Published on 25th Nov, 2023
It was bright but frosty morning. We agreed to swap pitches withL1s as the top pitch was less frozen. We made a positive and energetic start. Anoushka got the first goal with a cross from Nina. We lead for the first time this season. They came back and scored to even it up. Then Helen passed to Sarah Rowe beautifully and she scored. They scored again. Sarah managed to bring down a high ball and slotted it into the goal. Then they scored again. It was 3-3 at half time.
Banbury restarted strongly. They had a number of attempts at goal that didn’t work. Then they were awarded a short corner which they converted to a goal. So the final score was 3-4.
However there were a lot of positives to take away from the game. When the structure held it worked well. The training from Wednesday was translated into the game.
There were nominations for Player of the Match for Kim, Phil, Flora and Gabby. The winner was Anoushka who had a splendid game with some very strong tackles.
Thanks to the umpires, Andy and Charlie.
