Season 2023-2024
Ladies’ 2s draw at Salisbury
Published on 09th Dec, 2023
Hawks made the trip to unknown Salisbury, taking in the sights of Stonehenge on the way, much to the surprise of Flo who thought it was in Scotland. The first fifteen minutes weren’t our finest, but we knew Trin in goal would make a load of worldie saves to keep us in the game. We eventually settled into the game and took the lead as Wato took the ball out wide, passed down the line to Odders who wiggled her way round the back of the home defence, crossing in to Wato who had continued her run. Boom. 1-0. The second goal was almost a carbon copy, with Helen doing some magic in midfield, then Odders doing some more wiggling, with a 1-2 in the mix somewhere. It eventually came to Kathryn who calmly slotted it in on the far post. Perhaps slightly flattering half time score, but 2-0 to Hawks at half time.
The second half was a much more composed and confident performance from Hawks, however bizarrely the score didn’t reflect it. Countless corners, but the Salisbury defence held strong and kept everything out. Then the home team got a goal back with about fifteen to go, with a cross being deflected into the roof of the net. Then with seconds left on the clock we conceded a corner which rather annoyingly Salisbury scored. But a very good performance from the 2s who should be very pleased with an excellent first half of the season.
