Season 2023-2024
Enigma all over Ladies’ 7s
Published on 29th Oct, 2023
We started strongly at the crack of dawn, in Milton Keynes. We immediately won a short corner which we could not convert to a goal against a very strong team. We had three subs today, so the energy was kept high. Throughout the first half there was huge determination and great defensive work especially by Deborah, stopping the ball on the line twice. In the middle Sophie did a smashing job bringing the balls up for opportunities and Evelyn’s spectacular saves far outnumber the 3 goals we conceded. Gemma, Zoe and Jess worked brilliantly in triangles up the line and into the D for shots with incredibly fast pace.
The talk at half time increased our communication and goal scoring opportunities in the second half as we continued to play better. Unfortunately, we did get one in the goal, but it didn’t count and ended up conceding 3 more in the second half. Nominations for player of the match went to Zoe, Evelyn, Deborah, Jess and Sophie but player of the match was Gemma.
Many thanks to Simon Aumonier for the excellent photos.
