In the U12s, the boys play 7-a-side on half a pitch, which includes playing penalty corners. They get involved in local festivals, but also league matches, and the County tournament at the end of the season. There is also the opportunity for the stronger U12 boys to take part in full pitch "Development matches" with some U14 players too, which involve playing alongside 3-4 adults in the team, against local clubs. It's a brilliant way to ease the transition to playing adult Saturday hockey, and a great experience to play with adults who coach them continuously throughout the matches.
