What can we all do to drive the OHHC Community forwards?
Our Members
- Take pride in putting on the Hawks shirt - striving to bring our very best to the Club whilst respecting team-mates, captain, the umpires, the opposition and above all, the spirit of our game.
- Making the game happen - Recognise the efforts of their team captain, coaches and club officials and to get involved in supporting the Club as and when we can.
- The game's not over after the final whistle - Expect to always return to the clubhouse after a game to socialise with team-mates and opposition and to enjoy team teas with a drink.
- Its the small things - Managing availability on Teamo makes a huge difference in helping team captains to organise teams and coaches to organise training.
- Encourage family and friends - To come along to BRN to watch a game first-hand and enjoy the offering from the pitch side kiosk or the clubhouse bar. Maybe even encourage them to buy a bit of Hawks merch to use while they cheer you on!
- Club mentality - Always think of ourselves as part of a wider Club and Community. Share and contribute to our real-world and social-media driven activity to help on all fronts.
Our Club
- Follow the Hawks Way – a set of principles to underpin our behaviours on and off the pitch.
- Publicise, attend and get involved in the full spectrum of events and activities in the club calendar, which will include getting Hawks involved in wider hockey-related activities such as group trips to international games.
- Get involved in Our Future – get trained to be a coach, or just come along to help at training. Be a Youth Team Manager.
- Pay it forwards by becoming an adult mentor to help Young Players transition to Adult Hockey.
- Get involved in Our Clubhouse - perhaps by fundraising, finding corporate. sponsorship from local business or your firm, or applying your professional skills?
- Volunteer onto the Management Team – this club won’t run itself!
- Wider Community - Recognise that Oxford Hawks is part of a much wider hockey and Oxford/Oxfordshire Community.
Our Squads
- It’s the best team that generally wins. We should always remember that we all belong to a squad, and whilst that may change through the season for any individual, decisions are made for the squad first.
- Come down to BRN to watch other teams: The kiosk and the stands provide a great environment to get behind our other squads as they play – and the sideline support makes all the difference to our teams as they compete at all levels.
- Post-match teas, and the post-game rituals are an integral part of the game. As such the whole squad should be in the clubhouse after the game, providing a fun and friendly way to embed the Hawks community, and provide a valuable opportunity to build lifelong friendships across the hockey family – within and beyond our club.
- Share the ups and downs! No game is complete without a friendly highlights review (over teas), scores and scorers published (on our new clubhouse scoreboard), players of the match selected and even a brief (sometime tongue-in-cheek) match report compiled!
- Socialise: Participate fully in the club social calendar.
Our Community
- Encourage others to come and try our sport. See if your local school is interested in our Project 2000 - Click Here
- Be social! Help us all to create an inclusive social club where all are welcome - a family-centred atmosphere, integrated into the local Community.
- Use the clubhouse outside of your trips to play and train - We are planning for the clubhouse to have predicable opening hours, providing an extensive mix of alcoholic and non-alcoholic drinks and offering televised sporting events.
- Our community-centred activities - get involved in Flyers - disability inclusive hockey across the UK - Flyerz
