The Total Annual Prize Fund is therefore £2,200 and if we can reach 300 tickets in the Draw (there are currently 160 participating tickets), the Draw can raise around £15,000 per annum to support our capital projects. The Club Development Draw is a great example of a fund-raising initiative where multiple modest contributions can raise very significant amounts of capital.
The COST OF A DRAW TICKET IS JUST £5.00 per month, payable by standing order. In addition to winning the main prize of improved facilities at the Club, each ticket will be entered into 22 x weekly draws throughout the season for a prize of £100.00.
Over many years the Club Development Draw has very successfully helped to support the continual upgrade of Hawks’ clubhouse and playing facilities, which unlike most hockey clubs we are fortunate to own ourselves. The Draw provides a reliable and steady income stream which can be used to service sources of capital funding that are raised by the Club to help finance facility projects. Put another way, when the Club doesn’t have capital funds ‘up front’, the income from the Draw allows the Club to raise or borrow money and to repay it over time out of the income from the Draw.
In 2010/2011 the Draw was instrumental in helping the Club to refurbish and resurface one pitch and to build a new second pitch, so that the Club now has two superb artificial grass hockey pitches on the same site as its clubhouse - a very rare set-up within hockey clubs in the UK.
The next project in our sights is the re-development of the Clubhouse as envisaged by the HAWKS@90 initiative. To underpin our vision, and the development of our community, we recognise that the Clubhouse must be the hub of our Club. To that end, we have developed a 3-Phase plan to improve and evolve the Clubhouse (and possibly the wider site) as summarised below. This phased approach means that, even if a successive phase is not realised, the phase (or phases) that are realised will result in an improvement to the existing clubhouse facility - which we think is acknowledged by all to have stagnated over the years and needs urgent and immediate revitalisation.
