Season 2025-2026
W1s in close game with Nottingham Trent
Published on 16th Nov, 2025
Oxford Hawks put in a spirited performance against a strong Nottingham Trent side in what proved to be a tightly contested encounter.
The first quarter saw both teams go toe to toe, matching each other in intensity and skill. Hawks moved the ball well and created some early chances, while Trent looked sharp on the counter, but neither side could find the breakthrough.
The second quarter continued in the same vein — a great battle in midfield with both defences standing firm. Despite some promising build-up play, neither team could convert their opportunities, leaving the score line goalless at halftime.
The game burst into life in the third quarter. A slick passing move down the left saw the Hawks combine beautifully before Sandra coolly slotted home to give the home side a well-deserved lead. The advantage, however, was short-lived. Nottingham Trent responded quickly, winning a penalty corner and converting to bring the scores level.
In the final quarter, both teams pushed hard for the winner. Hawks showed determination and energy, but it was Trent who found the decisive moment — converting another penalty corner with just a few minutes remaining to seal the victory.
Despite the narrow defeat, Hawks can take plenty of positives from a strong performance against a good opposition. They’ll look to bounce back next week as they travel to Leicester in search of three points.
The Player of the Match was Clare King.
