The Oxford Hawks Women’s  7s faced off against Abingdon in an exhilarating match that kicked off at 10 AM. The game began with fast-paced action, featuring end-to-end play as both teams showcased their skills and determination.

The first breakthrough came in the 7th minute when Abingdon capitalized on a short corner, opening the scoring at 0-1. They continued to apply pressure, and just five minutes later, in the 12th minute, they doubled their lead with a well-executed move down the right flank, making it 0-2. Abingdon maintained their momentum and struck again in the 14th minute, extending their lead to 0-3.

However, the Hawks responded with tenacity. In the 22nd minute, Hannah Jones tapped in the Hawks' first goal after a brilliant link-up play with Cat and a powerful shot from Linda, narrowing the deficit to 1-3. Unfortunately for the Hawks, Abingdon quickly regained their composure and answered back with another goal in the 26th minute, scoring from a low short corner to make it 1-4 as the teams headed into halftime.

The second half saw the Hawks start strong, dominating possession in the opening five minutes. Yet, against the run of play, Abingdon struck again in the 6th minute, increasing their lead to 1-5. Despite several attempts from both sides, no additional goals were scored in the remainder of the match, with both teams sharing possession and opportunities.

Overall, it was a solid performance from the Hawks, who displayed resilience and determination throughout the game. With no match scheduled for next week, the team will regroup and prepare for their next encounter against Bicester on November 2nd.

There were nominations for Player of the Match for Agnes (GK) and Charlotte. However, Player of the Match honours went to Hannah Jones for her outstanding efforts on the field.
